The first LP by the Taj Mahal Travellers was recorded at Sogetsu Hall in Tokyo on July 15, 1972. This date became the title of the work, which was released the same year by CBS Sony Records.
A live performance celebrating the 50th anniversary of this album was held on July 15, 2022. The only original members of the Taj Mahal Travellers who attended were Tokio Hasegawa and Seiji Nagai. The other members could not attend because two had passed away, two were religiously active and could not play music according to their beliefs, and one had lost touch with the group. Therefore, young musicians were recruited to perform with them. This performance marked a spark of improvisation that broke Hasegawa's 50 years of silence.
The concert took place at Forestlimit Hatagaya, a live house about 20 minutes by car from Shibuya. Despite the pouring rain, the group had to navigate a narrow alley where car access was impossible. After unloading their instruments, they had to find another route. The small venue was located on the basement floor and, with over 10 performers and staff members, it felt packed with the total of about 60 people, including the audience. Many performers met each other for the first time, and neither the audience nor the participating musicians could imagine what the performance would be like.
For this live performance, Hasegawa asked his friends to perform with elements like stone, shadow, bamboo, and gorilla.
