Fresh off the energy from last summer's "Key Change", described by The Fader as "a blissfully maniacal pastiche of sun-drop jazz", Mocky has opened the vaults to bring us the third installment of his "Moxtape" series.

Featuring contributions from Jamie Lidell, Mr. Oizo, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson and perfectly capturing the communal spirit and eclectic energy of his monthly "Mocky and friends" jam sessions on the rooftop of the Ace Hotel where artists as diverse as Kelela, Feist or Lianne La Havas have surprised audiences with improvised performances with Mocky's band and where "the only plan is not to have a plan", as Mocky puts it. This has resulted in one of L.A.'s most treasured below-the-radar music nights that was recently discovered by Quincy Jones' Production Company and brought to LA's Lyric Theatre to rave reviews. "I was eager to bring some of the Berlin rawness to L.A. where everything can be so polished and pro all the time", says the Canadian by way of Berlin. "There's got to still be a way to break the rules!"

And you can hear this "rule breaking" on the genre defying new Moxtape which features the luscious strings and warm instrumentation we've come to expect from this versatile multi-instrumentalist. The former "Pre-DM" (as Mocky characterizes his "electronic" phase in Berlin in the early 2000nds) producer keeps things organic yet modern as he warms the heart with his sweet vocals on "Exception to the Rule", a radiant track that features breakout artists Joey Dosik on keyboards and Moses Sumney on background vocals. Mocky also recruits old pal Jamie Lidell for a vocal appearance on "Keep Feelin' This", bringing back memories of their classic work together on Lidell's "Multiply". Also included as a bonus cut is DJ/filmmaker Mr. Oizo's massive remix of "Key Change" favourite "Soulful Beat" and for all those audiophiles out there, a strings-only Miguel Atwood-Ferguson stem edit of "When Paulie Gets Mad".
